Malta
Malta’s ancient history dates back to around 5200 BC when the island was first inhabited. The ancient Maltese are known for building impressive megalithic structures, including the Ggantija Temples, which are older than Stonehenge and the pyramids of Egypt. The Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans also left their mark on Malta, which served as an important trading hub in the Mediterranean. In 870 AD, the Arabs conquered Malta and introduced Islam to the island. The Normans later conquered Malta in 1091, paving the way for its Christianization and setting the stage for its later history as a strategic Mediterranean stronghold.
Today, Malta is an independent nation with a population of around half a million people. It is known for its stunning natural beauty, including its crystal-clear waters and rugged coastline. Malta has a rich cultural heritage and is home to numerous historic sites and museums. It also boasts a thriving economy, with a focus on tourism, finance, and technology.
